A certified personal trainer, she has been teaching fitness classes for over 25 years in both personal and professional settings. Yet only in the last few years has she uncovered her true passion and real purpose… creating STRONG, HEALTHY, BRAVE Warriors who understand that:

a BRAVE spirit is vital to winning battles both inside and out

Paula Bryant – Group Fitness Instructor
I began my journey in fitness more than 20 years ago when I got a job working at a gym near my house. It started out working at the front desk in high school and college, then the more time I spent at the gym, the more intrigued I became by learning about the body and how it works. I studied anatomy and physiology in college, and went on to certify and become a personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I spent several years training and learning as much as I could. Along the way I went through nutritional certifications, and class certifications until I became pregnant with my first child. I knew once the baby entered the picture I wouldn’t be able to go back to full time training, so I decided to certify to teach aerobics. I never actually intended to do anything with it…but as soon as I certified with AFAA, I got thrown into teaching classes, and kept doing it for another 13 years!
Over the years I have found that the thing I like the most about working in the gym is being able to help people understand what they are doing and why! As an aerobics instructor I was able to do that in each of my classes. There is nothing more rewarding for me than to see that I’ve been able to help someone figure out whats been stopping them from achieving their goals. I’ve taught many formats over the years including interval training, spin, pilates, strength training, boot camp, yoga, and more. I’m excited to share some of the formats I love with you!
I moved to Boise 2 years ago from my hometown of Denver when I was pregnant with my 4th child. Its the first time in my adult life that I hadn’t consistently worked out and I found out that I am not immune to metabolism issues. (I should have been nicer to all of those training clients with their excuses years ago!) I am thrilled to have the opportunity to get back to what I love most; teaching and training! Marilyn Green – Group Fitness Instructor
Hey everyone! My name is Marilyn Green and I’m so excited to be a part of Shine. I’m a below the knee amputee who loves an adventure of any kind (like teaching at a gym)! I have three girls who are 7, 5, and 2 years old and exercising is something that helps my sanity. I have attended classes at the gym for years and recently just started sharing that love with others by teaching. DanceFit, TurboKick and Strength classes are my favorite so far. I can’t get enough of the motivation and strength that comes from exercising with a group of people that push you to be better, inspire you, and help you see your full potential. I’m all about showing up, doing your best, feeling awesome; and doing it together makes it so fulfilling. I can’t wait to be a part of your health journey, to sweat with you, and feel your energy in classes!
Kim Greiner – Group Fitness Instructor
Hello girls! My name is Kim Greiner and I’m a true believer in “Fit body, fit mind”. After I had my sixth baby in 10 years my body just gave out and I almost died. I was not healthy physically or mentally. I knew I needed to do something to help myself and I found a power dance class that I fell in love with!! The music and the movement just freed my soul and I felt happy and full of life again. That was 18 years ago and I haven’t stopped dancing since. I am 52 years young and I know that age is just a number. I have 11 grandchildren that keep me busy and happy, but what really motivates me is to give back what I have learned over the years. The sisterhood and acceptance that is always present in my class is so important to me. I have been a power dance instructor for 5 years now and I can’t even tell you the benefits of just moving and laughing and sweating!!! What a blessing I have been given to join the sisterhood at Shine! I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and continuing our health journey together.
Sara Spitler – Bounce Instructor
Hello everyone! I’m Sara. I moved here with my husband and two kiddos about 3 1/2 years ago from New Mexico. My fitness journey started a long time ago (pre-children ); I was a total gym rat. I fell off the fitness wagon for quite a while and when we moved here I was unhealthy and very unhappy. I discovered group fitness classes and my passion for working out was re-ignited! I lost around 50 pounds and have kept it off now for three years. I love the group fitness dynamic and I am now healthier and happier than I’ve been in years. I was content to just take fitness classes but when an opportunity to teach Kangoo/Bounce presented itself I couldn’t pass it up. I truly love sharing my passion with others and showing people that working out can be really, really fun!
Emily Matta – Yoga Instructor
Emily remembers first being introduced to yoga as a young girl. She would look through a yoga book on her mom’s bookshelf for hours. Fascinated by the pictures of an amazingly flexible and strong woman with a tranquil face she would imitate the poses and dream of someday being such a super woman. Fast forward 25 years (a marriage and four kids later) and Emily received a Wii Fit for Christmas. I know…what?? Although it had many activities and games, she kept going back to the yoga work out. Quickly realizing she should probably get a real teacher instead of relying on a video game and DVD’s, she began her personal yoga journey attending classes locally with Laurie McElroy and Jenny Lewis and teaching yoga at local preschools. 6 years later she is excited to start sharing her love of yoga with even more people! Her other pastimes are enjoying long walks, short hikes, playing volleyball, playing piano, reading/teaching reading, and learning German. (She dreams of one day visiting Austria and belting out “The Hills Are Alive” in the Swiss Alps). Come build a community with Emily and your fellow students as we enjoy a total mind, body, spirit experience and improve our strength, balance, and flexibility. EveryBODY needs yoga.
Summer Crooks – Running Coach
Hi. My name is Summer Crooks. I am a military wife, a mother, a fighter, a friend, a runner, and a fitness lover. My husband and I have been married for 10 years and we have two children. One girl, Navy who is 10 years old and one boy, Ryder who is 7 years old.
I am an every day, 5 am, hair up, workout clothes on, running shoes laced up, ready to go type of person. My passion for fitness began with running and has never left. I love all types of fitness and always up for a challenge. My intensity is matched with my passion to share, inspire, motivate, and be involved working with others who want the same thing.
Currently I am working on my personal training certification. Shine Fitness is amazing and I am so excited to pursue and continue to achieve my fitness goals with YOU and along side such truly inspiring and strong women.
Director of Shine 365 (Weight Loss & Nutrition): Lexy Hinson
Hi! I’m Lexy Hinson… a 42 year old mom of 2 boys (ages 18 and 16) and wife of a chiropractic kinesiologist! I have struggled with my weight throughout my life, especially after having children. A couple of years ago I joined a weight loss group and managed to lose over 50 lbs and was featured in Health Magazine. When I first started my weight loss journey… I just wanted someone to tell me what to eat! I didn’t like cooking and I am not the kind of person that can just throw things together. There are tons of ideas out there and I love finding new and fun ones that I feel like I am capable of making! I LOVE challenging myself to try new things! I discovered my love of running and exercise. I ran 2 full 26.2 mile marathons and 3 half marathons… and many 10k and 5k’s. I also participated in events like the Tough Mudder, Ragnar Trail Relay, and the Wanderlust Yoga Festival.
Although I did experience some weight loss success, I now realize there really is no “finish line”… my healthy lifestyle continues to be a daily struggle for me. I LOVE being a part of Shine Fitness! I love meeting like minded people that make their health a priority. I use our Shine 365 Weight Management Group as a place to discuss my thoughts and share new ideas that I find. I am learning to eat in moderation and truly enjoy my life!

Hi! I am Alison Hilyard, an Executive Assistant at Scentsy and the proud wife of a retired Air Force Master Sergeant.
I have had my ups and downs with my weight, fitness and eating, but as I (quickly) approach the age of 50, I have found a happy and healthy balance and feel better than ever. I love to share my story and help others. It’s never too late! Shine has been a huge part of my success and I feel blessed to be a part of such a wonderful place.
In my spare time I like to get outside, whether it be going on a long walk, attending a BSU Football game (go Broncos!) or just hanging out with friends. No matter what, I always find time to workout and have fun.
Shine will help empower you to get into shape. I hope I can help you reach your goals! ☺
